". . . in a far far land of CHO, there lived an illustrator who drew cats and dogs and frogs and more.

there were dark skies filled with the sun, stars and moon.
every day told a story of good and bad.  stories of memories had.

the beginning"

wendy CHO attended OCAD in design, specializing in Illustration;  formally showing her artwork in 2012 under her company name “once upon a design”.  She is a member of the Artists' Network, Art Society King, Oshawa Art Association as well as the Kawartha Lakes Arts Council.

wendy's artwork is described as witty, charming, and whimsical, with a storybook-like quality that sparks imagination and joy. Using bold black lines paired with a pop of lacquer colour, she creates pieces that have a glass-like appearance, bringing a sense of wonder to the viewer. Her inspiration comes from the enchanting world of children’s book stories and the delightful personalities of her animal babies—cats, dogs, fish, bunnies, and even an albino hedgehog named Stella!

A recurring element in her work is the image of a balloon. Inspired by the phrase "when pigs can fly," she imagines a world where even the juiciest animals can float through the air with tiny balloons, symbolizing that anything is possible—the sky’s the limit. Through her art, she aims to evoke the innocence and boundless possibilities that characterize childhood memories of happiness and joy.

Ultimately, she hopes her artwork brings delight and spreads smiles, inviting viewers to embrace the magic of imagination and the simple joys of life.
